The Date Palm is a tree that has nourished humankind for millennia in the heart of the most arid desert landscapes, and the Date is the fruit of the Phoenix dactylifera palm, which name derives from the Freek daktilos (finger), a reference to its elongated shape; each fruit contains a single seed surrounded by sweet, succulent flesh.
